500 Miles
Lyrics & Credits
500 Miles by Kathryn Cloward
I woke up at 4am knowing what I needed to do
I had to find if there was still hope or if we were through
Headed northbound to San Francisco as the sun rose from the east
Carried on wheels of hope seeking love and peace
But as the miles stretched on for hours it became clear to me
That sometimes being courageous borders on being crazy
I drove 500 miles on a pilgrimage of hope
Hoping to salvage what was left of us before coming back home
But I never got to see you or hear your voice again
And I had to accept that sometimes things just come to an end
I drove 500 miles on a pilgrimage of hope
‘Cuz I realize that love can only grow where energy flows
But the messages in the miles helped me know
That sometimes the only place to drive is straight back home
Your silence said everything and you wouldn’t give me time
I risked it all for love even though it broke this heart of mine
I gathered up all my strength and put the tissues away
Then I turned my car around and drove home the very next day
As the miles stretched on for hours I let my angels lead the way
‘Cuz sometimes the only way to heal is to surrender and pray
I drove 500 miles on a pilgrimage of hope
Hoping to salvage what was left of us before coming back home
But I never got to see you or hear your voice again
And I had to accept that sometimes things just come to an end
I drove 500 miles on a pilgrimage of hope
‘Cuz I realize that love can only grow where energy flows
But the messages in the miles helped me know
That sometimes the only place to drive is straight back home
I drove 500 miles on a pilgrimage of hope
