I watched @shesaidfilm on Amazon this weekend (important story!) and it triggered me. It reminded me of those times in my life when I felt bullied, silenced, powerless, and dim. It reminded me of how I, like many women, complied with our conditioning to keep quiet to keep the peace. Thankfully, years ago I decided to start doing my inner healing and transforming work guided by some fantastic therapists, shamans, and healers who helped me reactivate my voice and uncover my shine. What a treat! @ezekieljayp and Tab (taking photo) and their daughter Olive came to my @kathrynthegrape show today. Okay, it’s Storytime… Back in 2017, I headlined a benefit concert at @bellyuptavern to support @radychildrens Hospital. I had been working with them a bit as I had been asked by their Auxilary to write a song for their Celebration of Champions event that honored children fighting cancer and their families. Doing the benefit show in conjunction with the release of my newest KC albums just made sense. It also make huge sense having Ezekiel’s awesome band perform that night — he’s a fantastic songwriter and performer. It was a great night for all! ( @heathernationmusic was also on the ticket that night. She’s rad, too!) Soon after that show, Ezekiel’s stepped down from performing and his bass player @stoneybass started playing with my band. David also started helping me and my company behind the scenes — notably doing all Kathryn the Grape book layouts for publishing and he did the layout for Father Joe’s memoir as well. Knowing Ezekiel also led to me meeting his love, Tab. She and I became fast friends and have shared a lot of meaningful heart to hearts. Tab radiates pure love. So here we are a few years later smiling with his daughter after rocking out to joyfully empowering music for children and families as if nothing has changed. Yet, we know many things have changed and all for the good. Music brings people together. 🎶💜✨

All things align when we are truly ready. When I was younger, I wasn’t ready. I am grateful for the years in between planting my desires and manifesting my desires because I needed a lot of real world experience to navigate this terrain and have the stamina to maintain my pace. I started my first company 18 years ago this month. It was a great business but I was often dealing with a lot of low-vibing folks. The bulk of my clientele were non-profit organizations and many of them ended up doing shady stuff — which is why I’m never glossy-eyed by board of directors or flashy titles. In business matters, I have experienced the full spectrum of individuals — some who have been honorable and conduct themselves with integrity while some have been real snakes in the grass who were sneaky and corrupt. I learned to rely upon my instincts and walk away from everything that came with strings. Even as I closed one and started another, the basics of business maintain in every industry. I knew the only way to keep going was to do my work and to be willing to learn from the ground up for gaining experience which develops confidence. With a zest for learning and challenging myself, I get to now do what I always dreamed of doing on my own terms at my own pace aligning with people with pure intention. I share this because I meet a lot of people who desire to do something different than they are doing now. They want to shift their lives but don’t know how. The have doubts and fears. I get that. I lived that. But I also lived with unfulfilled desires for years, and now I don’t. The difference in how I feel about life now verses then is incredible. I desire that feeling of fulfillment for everyone who truly wants it. Our inner voice is always guiding us. What’s yours saying? 💜✨🙏🏼

I wrote this one right before we went into lockdown for COVID. As with all of my songs, it started out acoustic. But when we were in pandemic times and so many things had shifted, I found refuge in my daily long walks and doing kickboxing — which had been a hobby of mine for a number of years. Kicking and punching (and dancing) my way through that year, a few of the songs on my newest album have upbeat dance sounds because I was in a kickboxing playlist mindset at the time. It’s fun taking chances with my music and exploring different sounds. I hope you enjoy it. I was touched to receive this video clip the other day from the directors of a teen/adult day center. This young man apparently loves reading my @kathrynthegrape Affirmation Series. 💜 Knowing my books and songs resonate with a full spectrum of ages and abilities matters to me. A fun fact about this video… I got a spray tan the day before filming and decided to let it set even longer overnight thinking I’d be more golden, like Coppertone baby tan. Nope. I woke up with a mild case of Oompa Lumpa. 🤣Thankfully, I was able chill it out with a long hot shower.
